No matter where you are on your journey, I will walk alongside you, leading you towards stronger relationships, a deeper faith, greater hope, lasting peace, and all the good that God has planned for you. I will help you meet your goals. Whether you are in a crisis, have lost your sense of direction, need some practical tools to deal with life, feel stuck, or just want to grow in your relationships and faith, I want to help. If you've been hurt by the church, feel like you used to know Jesus but can't seem to find Him anymore, or are searching for the meaning of it all, I want to help. Whether you are preparing for marriage, struggling to stay married, recovering from infidelity or divorce, don't know how to manage your kids, work, or your hectic life...or are facing the end of life on this earth, I want to help. If you feel like there is no hope, you have nothing to look forward to, and you feel lost, I want to help. I will listen, challenge you, encourage you, and lead you. You're not alone.
With nearly twenty years of pastoral counseling experience, I have had the privilege of seeing God transform minds, hearts, marriages, and relationships. Jesus--who He is, the message He brings, and how He sees us-- heals hearts and lives, transforms minds, restores marriages, and offers us tremendous hope, strength, and direction.
For nearly ten years I served my community as a police officer for Coeur d'Alene City. I was the School Resource Officer at Coeur D'Alene High School for seven of those years. It was there that I got my first experiences coaching parents and students through difficult life issues, and I realized I wanted to enter full-time ministry. In the fall of 1999, I began attending Real Life Ministries in Post Falls, Idaho, where I was a volunteer leader for several years. I stepped into full-time ministry in 2004 and was ordained at RLM. During my time as a pastor, I led various ministries, and I eventually joined a discipleship training team, developing and facilitating dozens of training sessions all over the world. I have officiated countless weddings, been with many folks in their final hours of this life, spent hundreds of hours counseling others, and have walked alongside so many through all the messiness of life.
As a seasoned pastoral counselor, leadership trainer, and professionally trained Christian life and mental health coach, I have the tools, experience, understanding, and compassion to help you move forward towards peace, healthier relationships, your personal goals, and the life you were created for. As a disciple of Jesus and image bearer of Christ, my heart and passion is to help people understand who God is and how He works in their lives.
The best way to care for others is to truly care about them. My counseling style is Relational Discipleship: building relationships, active listening, asking meaningful questions, clearing away the distractions, leading through scripture, prayer, and accountability to a place where God restores.
It is a process of discovery, renewal, and healing. Biblical counseling means walking patiently with you while intentionally connecting you to Christ through thoughtful questions, wise counsel, prayer, and scripture. It means coming alongside you as you struggle. It is a conversation that helps you apply the truth of scripture to your life--the way you think and the way you feel. It is not fixing you or talking you out of your pain, but rather it is helping you to view life with a new perspective, to see God at work, and to trust Jesus with your decisions and in your everyday life. It is finding HOPE and TRUTH and a new way to LOVE and live based on how God sees you and designed you, so you can experience the PEACE and JOY that only comes from a relationship with Him.
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh" (Ezekiel 36:26 NLV).
Over the course of our lives we develop a belief system based on our experiences. If that belief system is even 3 degrees off from what is true, over time that gap grows wider and wider, causing tension, confusion, dysfunction, and frustration. We develop all sorts of ways to cope and strategies to make life work. Sometimes we just snap or completely withdraw from life and those around us . Sometimes the cycle starts over and over again. By digging down and looking back at where and when things got off track, we can begin rebuilding what is actually true. We expose and relearn how life works in light of this new discovery. The beauty for me is watching how God reveals the lie, reveals the truth, and provides the healing.
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will" (Romans 12:2 NIV).
Sometimes we don't recognize, or we lose sight of, how God has been at work in our lives. Discovering and remembering these times will build your faith. Like stacking stones, we will stack these memories upon each other as remembrances, memorializing them. From these remembrances you can draw HOPE and STRENGTH, knowing God loves you, pursues you, and is at work in your life, drawing you closer to Him and using you to show others His LOVE. These remembrances can give you confidence to move ahead through difficult times, to face your fears, and to step out of your comfort zone. They will remind you that your source of HOPE is not from this world or your own efforts, but rather is from Jesus who will never leave you.
"I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds" (Psalm 77:11-12 NIV).
